Children these days have to carry the brunt of heavy bags to school. To reduce their burden, we have some suggestions for you:

• Ensure that the bag weight (excluding books & notes book) is less.

• It is advisable that your child shares his books with the child who sits with him. If your child brings the English book, his partner can bring the Maths book, it can be decided between them as to who is going to bring which book.

• Parents can also keep the books at home for their reference except English and Hindi literature books, as they are helpful for improving the reading skills of the students during class room session.

• Books related to General Knowledge, Art & Craft, Computer and Life Skill will be kept in school till class V. Students of other classes can keep it at home.

We hope that the above suggestions will help in curtailing the burden of our students to some extent.

Dear Parent,

MOMO challenge game: What parents need to know

We all know the hazards of online game called “the Momo challenge”, which started on Facebook where members are “challenged” to communicate with unknown numbers. It went viral on social media platforms, especially WhatsApp. The MOMO challenge consists of a variety of self harming dares which becomes increasingly risky as game progresses. Its targeting young adults and encouraging them to harm themselves.

In view of this, you’re advised to monitor internet usage and apps downloaded by your ward. You’re also requested to supervise and monitor all the online activities of your ward. You are therefore requested to counsel children in case they are inquisitive about the game and watch out for any abnormal behavior which could be linked to “MOMO Challenge”.

Look out for following Signs & Symptoms:

• Becoming withdrawn from friends & family.

• Persistent low mood & unhappiness.

• Looking worried that stops him/her from carrying out day to day tasks.

• Sudden outbursts of anger directed at themselves or others.

• Loss of interest in activities that they used to enjoy.

• Visible marks like deep cuts or wounds on any parts of the body of the child.

What to Do:

• Interact closely with the child.

• Keep watch on his movements.

• Spend quality time with the child.

• If it’s serious, take help of a professional counselor.

• Keep a watch on the browsing history of the child.

• Put parental controls by installing Apps & sync the child’s email/social media accounts with your phone or PC.

In view of the recent surge in cases of Dengue and changing weather conditions, we wish to reiterate the following: Do’s & Don’ts with you:
Do’s
• Prevent entry of mosquitoes by installing screens on windows
• Use mosquito repellents like cream, mats and coils.
• Eliminate all mosquito breeding sites and prevent water-logging in surroundings.
• Use mosquito nets on beds while sleeping.
• Clean water coolers and water tanks frequently and keep all water resources fully covered.
Don’ts
• Do not accumulate old tyres, tubes, plastic containers, etc. as they act as breeding grounds for the mosquitoes.
• Do not allow children to wear short-sleeved clothes and play in water puddles and stagnant water bodies.
• Do no assume symptoms and self-medicate
• Do no keep water containers open as they can attract mosquitoes to breed.

As per the suggestion of few parents, full sleeved summer shirts & trousers for students of classes Pre-Nursery to III are made available at uniform shop. Interested parents can purchase it.

We all know that nipah virus has been spreading widely in our country. It is a viral infection caused by the nipah virus. It can be spread either between people or from animals.

Therefore, we would like to aware you all about the symptoms and safety measures. Some of the basic symptoms of this viral infection are fever, headache, generalised tiredness. It can also lead to drowsninesss and confusion.

SAFETY MEASURES

* Wash hands properly with soap and water .

* Avoid half eaten fruits and vegetables from ground .
* Handling of dead bodies according to government advisory .
* Every fruits or vegetables which is to be consumed should be washed and cleaned Properly.
* Avoid going to the dwelling places of bats for example caves and wells.
* Be careful while consuming fruits and vegetables which come from that area, avoid drinking palm sap in these places, if you wish to drink it, boil it once so that the virus is removed.
* Keep a physical barrier around while rearing animals like piglets. A physical barrier could be a net or a face mask.

Let us together redefine the definition of working in collaboration and keeping Healthy.

Instructions:-

• Entry will be from gate number 2.
• Entry will be strictly through Parent’s I-Card only.
• Only 2 persons per family will be allowed to enter. Kindly be seated by 1:30 pm.
• On 21^st December 2017 students have to reach the school in the morning as usual at 7:50 a.m. School buses will ply for the transport users for their pick-up only. Send your child properly dressed up in the costume given.
• Students will be handed over to the parents after the National Anthem only.
• Parents and students are requested not to bring their cameras. Kindly co-operate with us.
• Dresses will be handed over to your ward before the function. We have taken all care with the measurement, but in case of any flaw please alter the dress yourself positively, so that inners are not visible. Avoid making them wear the long inners as temperature is not an issue and function will be organized in the school auditorium.
• On 21^st December 2017 students will be handed over to the parents only. In case any parent is unable to pick his ward, the person who will come to take the child should carry the parent’s I-Card and the authority letter signed by the parent.
• Students will return the costumes immediately after the function to their respective in-charges in a plastic bag with the name written on it. Students will carry a dress (for change), lunch and water bottle (Properly labelled). Light Refreshment will be given from the school.
• Please follow the instructions given below regarding the make-up:
• Please send your ward without make-up as it will be done in the school itself.
• For removing the make-up after the programme, massage the face with coconut or olive oil for 5 minutes.
• Wipe it with wet cotton.
• Then wash it with a face wash.
• It has been observed that the parents do not sit throughout the programme once their child’s performance is over. You are requested to be there for the entire programme and motivate other students also.

A team of doctors from Med Mavins Health Program is working in collaboration with Serona Health Pvt. Ltd. and Global Animationz LLC, United States to increase health awareness among children. Dr. Bharbi Chattopadhyay with his team will be conducting the entire program including General Physical examination, Blood Pressure check-up, BMI check-up, Dental Check-up, Eye testing, Hearing assessment, Behaviour response assessment, Growth Pattern, Height and Weight etc., and would require few basic details of the child such as:

• Vaccination record
• Details of chronic ailment of child (if any)
• Medical history of family of both maternal and paternal side (if any)

Necessary medical advice and precautionary measures will be given to the students. Kindly make sure that child is regular during this duration.

Advisory for Parent

Please note that due to the high pollution levels/ unfavourable weather conditions in the city, we have stopped outdoor activities.

You are also advised to take care of the following :

• Make sure that your ward’s complete body is covered, as much as possible and suggest them to breathe through a wet handkerchief and wear a mask.
• You are advised to reduce their outdoor physical exertion, and to reduce the time of staying outside, especially in areas with heavy traffic.
• Dietary Changes: To protect them, foods that are rich in antioxidant should be given adequately. These include all the fruits and vegetables, especially those rich in Vitamin A & Vitamin C.
• Room temperature lime water as soon as your ward get back from school and drinking plenty of water through out the day would be a good idea.

Blue Whale challenge : What parents need to know

We all know the hazards of online game Blue Whale. Its targeting young adults and encouraging them to harm themselves.

In view of this, you’re advised to monitor internet usage and apps downloaded by your ward. You’re also requested to supervise and monitor all the online activities of your ward. You are therefore requested to counsel children in case they are inquisitive about the game and watch out for any abnormal behavior which could be linked to “Blue Whale Challenge”.

 

Be Alert When 

• Child has visible signs or usual wounds / marks on the body, specially on arms or lips.

• Child is keeping unusually aloof sitting on the edge of a tall building with legs dangling.

• Child is watching horror movies for a long time.

• Child is waking up at odd hours say at 4:20 am.

• The child is listening to weird psychedelic music.

• Child is posting depressing contents and selfies on social media sites.

 

What to Do:

• Interact closely with the child.

• Keep watch on his movements.

• Spend quality time with the child.

• If it’s serious, take help of a professional counsellor.

• Keep a watch on the browsing history of the child.

Use of Internet and Digital Technologies

Dear Parents,

The potential of Information technology as a valuable learning resource is immense. However, if children use the internet without safety awareness, they may fall prey to illegal activity or abuse such as cyber bullying, fraud or something even more serious. Hence, awareness of internet safety norms is absolutely indispensable to make children free to explore knowledge without feeling intimidated.

At home you need to promote a safe and secure educational environment to discourage your ward to make use of internet, specially the social networking sites. You are, thus, advised to take the following measures:

• Educate your(s) ward for the safe and effective use of the Internet.

• Make them explicitly aware of the rules for the acceptable use of the Internet and display these rules in this regard prominently in their room.

• At home keep the computer at a central place, where it’s easy to monitor its use.

• Supervise and monitor all the online activities in the light of educational objectives.

• Do not allow them to create accounts for any social networking site.

• Make sure they are not using mobile phones single handed.

It is further informed that carrying electronic communication devices including those that can store/record/play audio-visual content; transmit or receive images; or provide unfiltered connection to the Internet such as iPods, DVD/CD players, game consoles, smart phones, laptops, tablet, smart watch or any other gadget with similar capabilities of data storage / transmission is not permitted in school.

Be the Change – do the Change

Thoughts of summer vacation may include images of time at the beach or lake, lazy days escaping the heat or going to mountain and no thought of classes for our kids.

But this time we thought why not do something productive and involve ourselves in different sort of activities.

However, there are plenty of productive ways, you can spend your vacation that can be fun, relaxing, helpful for their education and of course it’s a way of instilling empathy in the child’s mind. This is a sincere request to all the parents, please read and follow.

 

Please try to do the following activities:

1. Go to the nearest bank and show them the functioning of the banks, how ATMs work and what is the benefit of it as demonetization has changed the scenario totally.

2. Give them saplings and ask them to plant them and water them and see them grow. Encourage them by saying that they will be presented with gifts for their good deeds.

3. We still miss the time spent with grandparents. So why to keep them deprived of this affection. Take them to your hometown/village and let them spend time with their grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins.  Let them experience the affection and good times of being with the family.

4. Tell them to make a group and takeover the charge to clean surroundings or a park.

5. Inculcate the habit of reading newspaper & books in them.

6. Teach them about the functioning of the government.

7. Teach them about traffic rules.

  

Community Service:

Community service is an opportunity for kids that empower them with responsibility, engage their compassion and offer them chance to affect the lives of others. Give a visit to orphanage, old age home, blind school, etc. and also explain them about these places. Donate clothes, old toys, food, story books, etc.

 

Take them to :

• Rivers or pool and teach them how to swim.
• Monuments and tell them about our History
• All the places of worship without restricting them to any one, temples, mosques, gurudwara, church etc.
• Nearby police station, court or jail (if possible).  Explain them the punishments rendered to the inmates because of their wrong doings.  This will make them aware of the bad things

• Sharing of books- It is advisable that your child shares his books with the child who sits with him. If your child brings the English book, his partner can bring the Maths book, it can be decided between them as to who is going to bring which book.

• If you are interested, the school can keep the books of your ward in the school itself. For this, you will have to buy another set of books so that he can study at home also and give a letter for the same to the class teacher for her information.

23.05.2017 :  Departure from school to Dharmashala at 6:00 pm in 2 x 2 deluxe AC coach. Dinner enroute. Overnight journey.

24.05.2017 :  Morning breakfast on the way, after breakfast reach McLeodganj, check in Hotel Royal Grand Resort. Visit to Dalai Lamba temple, Bhagsunath temple, Dal Lake, Lunch in Hotel, evening free for shopping at Mall Road. Dinner & Night stay at Hotel.

25.05.2017 :  Early morning after breakfast, full day sight seeing at Chamunda Devi Temple, Tea Garden, Cricket Stadium (if permission granted), Old Church by Sumo/Qualis, lunch on the way. Evening free for shopping at Mall Road. Dinner, Music & Dance, night stay at Hotel.

26.05.2017 :  Early morning after breakfast, visit Palampur Zoo by our bus, lunch at Palampur, after lunch visit Chintpurni Devi, after sightseeing departure to Delhi, dinner on the way (according to the time) over night journey by AC bus.

27.05.2017 :  Reach School at 6:00 am.

CIRCULAR (CLASSES VI TO VIII)

Dear Parents,                                                                                                                                                       24.04.2017

As you are aware, the CBSE has issued a circular on the restoration of Board Examination for class X and revised assessment structure and examination for class X from Academic Year 2017-18 onwards. To make the students get used to it, the CBSE has decided to implement the uniform system of assessment and examination pattern for classes VI to VIII also on the same pattern.

Henceforth, the scheme for classes VI-VIII has been designed on Term Assessment basis with gradual increase in the learning assessment as the students move forward. The assessment structure and examination comprises two terms, i.e., Term-1 and Term-2.

Kindly note the following:

• A series of Periodic Test will be conducted in each Term comprising 50 marks.
• The test will be conducted on consecutive days in the months of July and December.
• Periodic Test shall be of 2 hours each. So, the school will get over earlier than the usual timings and buses will drop the children accordingly.
• Half Yearly and Annual Examinations comprising 80 marks each will be conducted in September and March respectively.
• Periodic Tests of GK, Art and Computer will not be conducted. These subjects will be assessed in Half Yearly and Annual Examinations only.
• Syllabus of Half Yearly Examination comprises all the topics covered till the date of the exam.
• Weightage of examinations as per CBSE is:

 

     (a)   Half Yearly / Annual Examination                 = 80 Marks

     (b)   Internal Assessment                                   = 20 Marks

         (i) Periodic Test                                             = 10 Marks

But the GK question paper will include a section of “Current Affairs” which would carry five marks as it was in the previous years.

The Robotics Classes will not only provide a base of robotics to the students but they will also gain hands-on experience on the wireless technology (Radio Frequency Control). As we know, the Central Board of Secondary Education has approved the proposal to reintroduce the compulsory class X Board Examination from the academic year 2017-18 and has also recommended the same for the classes VI to IX. Following the above proposal the school has restructured the examination system from Classes VI to IX. The highlights of the same are as given below:

• Total Four exams will be conducted throughout the session, three periodic tests and one Annual Examination.

• Annual Exam will be conducted from the whole syllabus covered during the session.

• Now students have to score 33% marks in the Annual Exam and 33% in internal assessment of every subject to get promotion to the next class.

• Internal Assessment includes 3 Periodic Tests, Note Book Submission and Subject Enrichment Activity. (Formative assessment is discontinued.)

Children these days have to carry the brunt of heavy bags to school. To reduce their burden, we have some suggestions for you:

• Sharing of books- It is advisable that your child shares his books with the child who sits with him. If your child brings the English book, his partner can bring the Maths book, it can be decided between them as to who is going to bring which book.

• If you are interested, the school can keep the books of your ward in the school itself. For this, you will have to buy another set of books so that he can study at home also and give a letter for the same to the class teacher for her information.

With the State Assembly Elections round the corner, it becomes pertinent that we explain the importance of such elections to our children in our democratic country wherein the role of citizens becomes extremely important.  

As democracy is government by the people, all the adult citizens of a country have the right to vote. It also means that all citizens are free to express their opinion in public and can freely criticize the government if they feel it is not discharging its duties properly. But why let this chance come when we have the string in our hands? We must vote for the right candidate. For this, we have to be aware of our rights and know what we should expect from our elected representatives.

Though the Election Commission ensures free and fair elections, it is we also who need to be fair in our selection of the candidate / party. As per the election law also, no party or candidate can ask for votes in the name of caste, creed or religion. As a responsible citizen of our country, we must follow this rule and vote without being influenced by any caste, colour, creed or any discrimination.  For this reason, it is important to acquire knowledge about current events and policy making rather than going on the basis of what others say or on caste, creed or religion. Let us also be careful and not get attracted by any kind of enticement, be it liquor, money or bribe in any form.

The school has also made some of our students the messengers who will go to various places of their vicinity and create awareness regarding this election law.
